Aladdin Hotel, Las Vegas Beauty lies not only in the final results, but how it gets there. This Aladdin Hotel installation included (14) 16 foot Black Olive Trees constructed per designer's exact specifications. Upon arrival or installation, it was discovered that the soffit above the trees was lowered to 14 feet. Make Be-Leaves proceeded to re-construct all trees on the job site, careful to maintain the original specified shape and canopies and expeditiously meeting the grand opening deadline. |
Casino de Deauville, France A prestigious design firm contracted Make Be-Leaves to construct, crate, and ship eighteen 20 foot custom Ficus trees to Deauville, France. We were able to save the firm over $20,000 by suggesting that the trees be disassembled for shipping to France in order to consolidate ocean freight costs. On arrival at the job site, it was discovered that tree parts had been pulled from the sea containers out into a parking lot where many of them had been run over by trucks. Make Be-Leaves' crew went to work for two long days and completely salvaged and refurbished all the components into the full order of eighteen beautiful trees. The designers were absolutely amazed and thrilled. |

Westin LAX installation of custom plantings for large existing planters: including 500 lineal feet of preserved bear grasses and multiple large floor plantings of preserved junipers Make Be-Leaves' crew arrived exactly when scheduled with a crew of professional installers, and had the entire job installed within several hours. When we approached the general manager, Cindy Bolton, for a signature of completion, she commented that we were the ONLY suppliers on the entire renovation who arrived on the scheduled date and time, completed the installation in a swift and professional manner without disturbing hotel guests - including leaving the areas of installation as clean as when we arrived. |
Holiday Inn, Boxborough, MA was a large, complex plantscape project including walkways, terraced planters and large specimen trees. The installation of hundreds of plants of numerous varieties was precisely coordinated by the use of item and planter color coding. This facilitated local, untrained workforce to successfully and expeditiously complete the installation under the supervision of minimal Make Be-Leaves crew. |

Elephant Bar Restaurants Make Be-Leaves is a provider of custom preserved palm trees and plantscapes for Elephant Bar Restaurants on a national basis. Earlier this year, due to an oversight on the part of the client, we weren't informed of an installation of a new Elephant Bar Restaurant in Colorado until a scheduling call came two days prior to their grand opening date. Make Be-Leaves scrambled to prepare the project, which normally requires a two to three week lead time. We then immediately drove the order to Colorado in order to beat the time required for crating and shipping - and completed the installation within two days of receiving the phone call! |

Portsmouth Naval Hospital This largest naval hospital in the country was undergoing a major renovation and addition. MBL met with the lieutenant commander at the hospital for a competitive presentation of capabilities and design input, which included a walk-through of entire facility. Plantscape design included fabricating florals and base plantings to compliment large photographic art work in specific areas of facility. The installation involved loading/unloading and installing all contents of two 53 ft. truck containers - with restrictive work hours: all work was to be performed after 10:00 p.m. This installation presented a great logistics challenge: placement of a large quantity of product throughout a huge facility in a limited amount of time. MBL successfully orchestrated this feat expeditiously to the great satisfaction of the military command, who staged a grand opening on the following day. |

Platinum Equity elevator lobby Architects for a large Beverly Hills company came to Make Be-Leaves with a design challenge for a parking structure at their facility. The parking structure had a client seating area at the elevator lobby. The desire was to delineate this seating area from the parking and driving area, in an upscale manner. In addition to furniture, the architect wanted to create the separation with custom plantings in the manner of a well-manicured garden. MBL created a beautifully sculpted boxwood topiaries and hedge work to follow exacting specifications of architect - including the facilitation of easy removal/replacement for occasional cleaning. We exceeded the architect's expectations. |
Vallarta supermarkets Make Be-Leaves was contacted by a designer working on a thematic concept for a grocery supermarket. The owners wanted to provide a tropical "Puerta Vallarta" ambience. The existing bare structural column supports created a challenge/opportunity to be camouflaged and contribute to the tropical theme. Make Be-Leaves utilized their expertise in constructing free-standing preserved palm trees, and applied it to the structural columns, transforming them into spectacular palm trees. The owners were so thrilled with the overall impact of these palm trees in their stores, that these palms are now a part of their "signature" look - to the extent that when they open a store that has no structural columns, they will install columns in order to maintain the continuity of their design. An additional benefit of this application is that these magnificent palms have such a tremendous impact on the store appearance, while taking up zero floor/merchandising space. |

Cracking Up television set An art director for a 20th Century Fox television production approached us with a need to re-create an exterior landscape of a Beverly Hills estate for a television series. Stock footage had been shot at the actual estate for opening scenes, and now they needed to re-create the exterior on a studio set to maintain continuity. This complex project included multiple challenges: tight budget, tight time frame and complicated plantscaping including custom trees, shrubbery, hedges, trellis treatments, floral gardens and ivy covered walls. Studio trucks pulled up to Make Be-Leaves facility on a daily basis to drop off large, unfinished set materials and pick up completed set materials. The project was completed to the stringent demands of the fastidious art director: on time and on budget - at about half the cost of the local studio provider. |
